Flexibility within the entire logistic chain – Egerland Car Terminal presents extensive portfolio on the RORO Exhibition 2010 at Bremen
“We are able to connect all transport carriers at the location Bremen such as ship, train, truck and air-freight. This flexibility saves money and time for our customers”, says Jörg Reiner
Kosak, Chief Operation Officer of EGERLAND Car Terminal (ECT). The company with an own port terminal plant, located directly at the river Weser, offers a complete scope of
technical services for vehicles (import and export). Frank Wessolowsky, the technical chief, describes the additional service package: “Furthermore we offer the whole processing of an international forwarding agency, such as ship clearance, bonded and non-bonded storage
and customs clearance for all kinds of shipment”.
There is a global orientation: regular arrivals of ships are connecting ECT with terminals in Asia, the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, France, Spain as well as West Africa. The extensive area of 250,000 square meters in the north of the Hanseatic City of Bremen is
available for the storage of approximately 11,000 units. A specific point of proudness is the so-called Deep-Sea-Pier, also applicable for Large Car Truck Carrier (LCTC).
ECT is specialized in individual lotments for individual customers. “Even car manufacturers
or importers, who do not participate the high-volume business, but want to ship only small numbers of items, are in good hands”, so Mr Kosak.
After the discharge and/or before the distribution EGERLAND surveys the technical and optical details of the vehicles and compares the output with customer's requests: the Pre Delivery Inspection (PDI) covers the whole spectrum of functional tests from the lights or disk wiping plant up to the check-up of the vehicle equipment.
An additional service offer is the Pre Delivery operation (PDO), the supplementary installation of special equipments for import vehicles – for example the installation of air
conditioning systems or navigation equipment as well as the conversion to a special version,(Autogas -LPG- or lowering chassis). The vehicle is stored until the release via customer, the distribution will be executed “just-in-time”. Flexibility within the entire logistic chain is a substantial component of EGERLANDs method
of operation. And the beginning is already a trade route on sea without handicaps. “We only use passages without locks”, says Jörg Reiner Kosak. And this could be noticed beneficial in
finances and time reducing.
EGERLAND is also able to work with ship arrivals announced at short notice: 30
minutes are enough to arrange all necessary preparations -24 hours a day and 365 days a year. The transportation to various European destinations is to be performed with a truck- and wagon fleet in personal property of EGERLAND.
MEDIA INFORMATION
In this context the Tracking and Tracing-System is absolutely important and essential. From discharging up to the destination the car can be monitored consistently at any point on its route.
EGERLAND processes the whole data volume with special computer applications , so called FLAIS (Fahrzeug Logistik Abrechnungs- und Informations-System), containing the complete controlling of the vehicles from assumption to distribution and invoicing. This system is extremely safe according to Jörg Reiner Kosak. There are interfaces to IT-systems of all European manufacturers and communication can be made by any popular records.
EGERLAND is sure that (quote) “this flexibility enables us to make individual customer solutions possible” (unquote).
Within the RORO exhibition 2010 EGERLAND Car Terminal presents the complete scope of its services at a joint booth with bremenports from May 18th until May 20th at fair Bremen, hall
