BLG LOGISTICS GROUP: European market leader in automobile logistics
The Bremen based BLG LOGISTICS GROUP in 2009 achieved a turnover of about 800 million Euros. The number of employees amounted to 14,000 worldwide. The business divisions of BLG are Automobile-, Contract-, and container logistics.
Regarding automobile logistics the European network with sea and inland terminals is supplemented by shipments via rail, road and water. Seven barges are operating on the rivers Rhine and Danube. More than 500 trucks connect the terminals directly with 7,000 dealers in Europe. BLG“s own block trains shuttle from the vehicle factories to the terminals and vice versa. A total of 4.7 million vehicles including high & heavy cargo were handled last year. The IT system C@RIN supports the chain of logistics services from the automobile manufacturers all the way to the dealers.
The sea port terminals are Bremerhaven, Cuxhaven, Hamburg, Gdansk, St. Petersburg, Koper and Gioia Tauro. Bremerhaven is one of the biggest automobile ports in the world. Modeled after Bremerhaven, Gioia Tauro (southern Italy) is developing into an automobile hub for the Mediterranean and Black Sea region.
The German inland terminals are Duisburg, Neuss and Worth on the river Rhine, Kelheim on the river Danube and Dodendorf in the hinterland. In addition to this BLG is present with terminal and services in Dabrowa Gornizca (Poland), Zilina (Slovakia), Nosovice (Czech Republic), Kiev (Ukraine) and in Russia near Moscow.
Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) is carried out at own technical centers. Due to customers individual orders there extras are installed, such as air conditioning systems, navigation systems, leather seats, sunroofs, sports rims and spoilers. Finishing work on exclusive special series is also
carried out.
